Mr Kemp’s Diary
17 May @ 12:00 - 13:00
Free

On Christmas Eve 1898 the first ever ship-to-shore radio transmission took place between East Goodwin Lightship and South Foreland Lighthouse, Dover. While Marconi remained war, and well fed on dry land his assistant, George Kemp, spent 22 days at sea, Many of them in a force 12 gale. Kemp’s diaries make for harrowing, if, from this distance, somewhat amusing reading. Sou’westers optional!
